How to add/change Font Style in Business Central?

Hello Dear Readers,

Let’s go for a new topic!

Our new topic is about Style Property in Business Central:

About Style Property

  • To change the color and appearance of values or fonts in Page field, which will be helpful to determine values, highlight value and also nice formation for clients.
  • Style Property applies in Page Field.
  • Style Property is not established by default.
  • Style Property does not support in Code, Boolean, Binary, BLOB, GUID, RecordID data types if it is used for sourceExpr of field.

Now we will see how to use Style Property with Example

  • In our case we have created one custom page with the location source table and in which have added two fields one is ID and another one is Name as u can see in below image. In each field we have used different Style property value.

  • Style Property only use for custom font style without taking any variable.
  • Let’s Publish it and see the output in Business Central. This is how it looks like as shown below image.

  • Well if you want or client want to change style in list of rows to fetch particular information or highlight or any condition-based information in same field there is StyleExpr Property to control in field or any conditional setting which will highlight that data or differentiate from list of rows.

Now We will use StyleExpr Property to assign Dynamic Font Style.

  • Let’s create a global text variable, we have taken StyleExpTXT which will assign to StyleExpr Text variable which have created will be use in trigger.
  • As you can see in below image, we did use condition for different value and different Style to that value in trigger OnAfterGetRecord ().

  • OnAfterGetRecord () trigger have used to read values one by one.
  • StyleExpr Property only use for dynamic font style with help of any variable.
  • Let’s Publish it and see the output in Business Central. This is how it looks like as shown below image.

  • Note that StyleExpr Property should not be set to a Text or Boolean array, it will fail on runtime.

List of Style Property Values:

So, I think this is nice feature that helpful for every client and user to find particular data from multiple rows.

Hopefully this write up will help to all of you use of Style Property and StyleExpr Property.
